May 29: Day 40-42
The three fledglings are exploring around the nest and nesting
tree. They are now capable of flying between trees up to 40
meters apart. Most flights are still short and within a single
tree, as the fledges test their wing and grasping skills;
they're not as smooth as mom and dad yet, but are learning fast!
Even so, the nest is still the center of operations--the fledges
feed, groom, and sleep there, with an adult always nearby. They
make regular food drops that the fledglings can now eat themselves.
